Modify a Character Style
1.
From the Format menu, select Styles. The Style Management dialog opens.
2.
From the Styles list, select the style you want to modify.
3.
Click Modify. The Character Style dialog opens with the current attributes displayed.
4.
Select the properties you want to modify, such as Font, Size, Attributes, and Color. In the Attributes group box, the Superscript and Subscript check boxes are mutually exclusive. When you select one of the two check boxes, the other is disabled. You must clear one before selecting the other.
A preview of the style is displayed in the Example group box at the bottom of the Character Styles dialog.
5.
To accept changes, click OK, or to cancel changes, click Cancel.
If you select (by highlighting) text and apply a format (for example, bold, italic, or underline) in a particular line/execution group, the text retains its format, even if the general style is modified using the Modify option in the Style Management dialog. However, the temporary formatting is not retained in a new line/execution group.
